Create or Join a Challenge Team
Concept2’s team challenges are a fantastic way to stay motivated and active—not to mention, a great way to come together during these days of isolation. Couldn’t we all benefit from being part of a group to help us stay focused on healthy goals? Working out towards a common goal creates a sense of camaraderie and support to keep you going for the long haul.
If you’ve never entered a Concept2 team challenge, now is the time! Although some teams are based in the same physical location (e.g. rowing club, school, or a gym), many teams are virtual. Team challenges are about accumulating as many meters as possible during a certain timeframe. It doesn't matter how fast or slow you are—it's a group effort, any and all meters count toward the goal.
It’s easy to start a team and you can invite along anyone who uses a Concept2 RowErg (any model), SkiErg or BikeErg. It only takes two people to start one, so invite your favorite training buddy, whether they are nearby or miles away.
If you’re looking to join a team or find teammates, you can visit the Concept2 Forum to let others know you’re available. You can also ask friends and family members to join a team. You might be surprised by how many say yes! A simple email or text can be all it takes.
Social media can also be a great way to let others know you’re recruiting for a new team. Whether you post on your personal page, tag #c2challenges in a post or share on your favorite Concept2 group, there are many ways to find a team or teammates. There are Concept2 groups that are managed independently by enthusiastic athletes who are loyal to our fitness equipment. Or you may join a discussion with others looking for teammates on our official Concept2, Inc. page. Search around to find the right community for you!

Teams vary in their competitiveness and goals. Some want to stay ahead overall or be at the top of the leaderboard based on their division or team size. Other teams are just looking to stay fit or support their members in conquering their own personal goals. There’s likely a team that fits your vision. The wonderful variety of team names—Rowing for Beer, Knotty Knitters, BikeErgs Don’t Float—reflects the great sense of humor with which teams approach the challenges.
We’ve found that some teams remain consistent year over year for the same challenge, while others are built for one specific challenge. When finding team members, it helps to be clear on what you’re looking for: competitiveness, year-round racing, shared other interests or fun! Novices are welcomed on many teams, so don’t be shy about joining the first time!
Our challenges are a great way to make working out a regular habit, as well as a wonderful way to be “together wherever!”
We look forward to the time when it's safe to work out next to each other, with the coach motivating us to get in our Team Challenge meters. In the mean time, virtual will have to do!
